- How can I go back to the overall view?
In all datapacks, in the main text region, there will be a 'tips' section (usually appearing after the first activeICM link in the text). There will be a 'reset view' link - click on it and you'll be returned to the initial overall view.
- The background is too dark/ bright - how can I change the colour?
In all datapacks, in the main text region, there will be a 'tips' section (usually appearing after the first activeICM link in the text). There will be a 'change background colour' with two options - black and white. Pick the one that suits you.
In the standalone version, you can pick any colour you like for the background. Simply identify the colour palette tool and right-click on the desired colour to change the background.
- iSee datapacks are very cool! How can I make one?
You will need the authoring version of the program to do it. The basic version is available for $99 to students. Please visit MolSoft for details.
- I have data from my lab - how can I add them to a datapack?#
There are several ways to do this, depending on how you want to add your data: 1. you have read a PLoS paper and want to add to the discussion: simply use the 'comments' tool on each PLoS article to do so. You'll be able to add only text comments (but are welcome to link to a relevant source of information). 2. you have read a SGC datapack and want to add some new information: please send us an e-mail (to be found in each datapack) with your feedback and we will strive to have this checked and the incorporated in our datapack (if applicable). The new info can be text, new slide or both n(or tables/ static images), depending on the nature of the contribution. 3. you have downloaded a datapack and would like to add your own annotations, for you own use: this will require a version of the program ICM (used to create/ edit the datapacks). The simple authoring version is called 'ICM-Browser Pro' and the full version is called 'ICM' (which does very very complex computational chemistry, protein simulations, docking etc.). For more information, please visit Molsoft's website.
- Can I use the images on my presentation?
Yes - you can use the content from the SGC or PLoS datapacks in any way you like. Check our neat tips section to learn how to embed a working datapack in your powerpoint presentation or how to extract images from the datapacks.
